When he’s not twisting your melon with The Mars Volta or making unlistenable solo records, former At The Drive-in guitarist Omar Rodriguez Lopez likes to make films. His third, the David Lynch aping ‘The Sentimental Engine Slayer’ is getting a public airing at New York's Tribeca Film Festival this week, the first time one of his talkie efforts has seen any semblance of a release.
Rolling Stone described it as a “tale about a young man who may or may not have an incestuous relationship with his sister, who may or may not try to choke and kill the prostitutes he enlists to help him lose his virginity”, which is exactly what I thought after viewing the trailer.
