Scottie Pippen Inducted in to the Hall of Fame

Today, former Chicago Bulls small forward Scottie Pippen was inducted in to the Basketball Hall of Fame, twice! As well as being nominated for his achievements in the game, Pippen was also part of the collective nomination as part of ‘The Dream Team’, the ’92 USA Olympic team that also featured legends Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and the greatest of them all, Michael Jordan.

Of course, MJ wouldn’t have been able to achieve as much as he did without Pippen at his side at the Bulls all them years and 6 titles ago. Pippen was a phenomenal defender, making the NBA All Defensive Team 8 times, creating the foundation for the Bulls continued success during the 90’s. He was also pretty adept at putting the ball through the hoop, stepping out of Jordan’s shadow during MJ’s first retirement spell in the 93-94 season, leading the bulls in scoring and claiming the MVP Honours at the All Star Game that season.
Of course, MJ’s retirement didn’t last too long, and he returned to the Bulls in ’95, where with the addition of Dennis Rodman, he reunited with Pippen and the 3 lead the Bulls to 3 consecutive titles (their 2nd Three-peat) between 95-98.

In my opinion, Pippen was one of the finest all round players to ever grace the courts of the NBA, and has been under credited in the legendary rise of Michael Jordan as one of the most famous athletes on the planet, and the NBA’s worldwide explosion in the 90’s.

Here’s the highlight reel. Watch and drool, Fool!
