8-bit Dark Side of the Moon

Move over Wayne Coyne, you’ve not got the sole rights to re-appropriate Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ for the weird kids. Video game programmer Brad Smith, straight-outta-Ontario, has given the teenage stoner favourite an upgrade, to 8-bit. He’s covered the entire album on his NES console. Love that crunch? Then check out the entire album HERE.

Hobo With A Shotgun

Photobucket
Much like the upcoming ‘Machete’, ‘Hobo with a Shotgun’ was originally a fake trailer which played in between Robert Rodriguez/Tarantino’s ‘Grindhouse’ double bill. The original trailer itself was the winning entry for a Grindhouse trailer competition that Rodriguez was running at SXSW, with the winner getting a spot in the film.
And just like ‘Machete’,’ Hobo with a Shotgun’ is now being remade in to a full length feature. The above picture is the first still to be released from the shoot, showing classic movie psycho Rutger Hauer in the title role of the Hobo, with what looks like a dead chick in a shopping trolley. The production’s official blog www.hobowithashotgun.com has been posting up behind the scenes footage from the shoot in Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; featuring some scenes from the set and some of Hauer’s gnarly weapons. But to get a good feel for what is coming for you, check out the original ‘Hobo’ trailer below. Death comes quickly for crooked cops, dime store hoods and peado Santa’s!!!

Last week we posted up the trailer for the beautiful new film Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo’. Well a few months back, ‘Beetle Queen’ director Jessica Oreck opened up the floor for aspiring designers to produce a poster for the movie. You can see all the entries over at www.designer-daily.com , but here’s a few of our favourite designs.

Bands I Use Ta Like: Matty Boy Anderson

Photobucket

The above strip is the work of comic creator Matty Boy Anderson, who does this strip called ‘Mike The Pod’. What’s more interesting however, is his ‘Bands I Use Ta Like’ strip that used to get published in Stomp Magazine, where he’d trace out his love affair and subsequent ugly break-up with the bands of his youth. Each strip generally features a catalogue assassination along with the real reason we all fall out of love with our favourite bands, Douchebags start to like ‘em.

Click Here to see his scribbled autobiographical take on Abba, Anthrax, The Beatles, The Doors, L7, Skinny Puppy, REM, Neil Young and tons more.

Mos Def ‘Quiet Dog Bite Hard’ Live

Photobucket
Last Tuesday night, Mos Def appeared on Later..with Jools Holland as part of Damon Alban’s ragtag revolving door crew of Gorillaz. Having dropped the cartoon facade of the band to reveal Albarn as a fat Phil Daniels-lite puppet master, Gorillaz are relying heavily on the charisma of collaborators like Mos Def to drag them through the mire of their new weak material. Yeah, Mos kicked it on ‘Stylo’ (see it here), but later in the show he’d bust the monkey shackles and perform a stunning version of his ‘Quiet Dog Bite Hard’, whilst standin’ at the drum kit, not missing a beat, not missing a spit.

Slash: "They still try and label us as a glam band but I don`t give a shit because we`re not."

Jonah Hex Trailer

Photobucket

After dropping off the promo radar for a little while, Warners are back pushing DC Comics adaptation Jonah Hex with a debut trailer out this week. Expectations in Fanworld are currently low, but the trailer should give it a boost, with Brolin looking the part as the snarling, revenge driven Hex, and Megan Fox doing the only thing she knows, acting like a hooker (God bless her).

As well as the aforementioned corseted Fox, we also get a horse mounted with Gatling guns, face branding, crossbow’s with dynamite stick arrows, crow vomiting, flame throwers, exploding ships and trains and John Malkovich doing his bad guy thing!

Jonah Hex is out on the 18th of June in the US, with no UK date announced as yet, damnit!
